ENT Services

A full range of services for pediatrics & adults

Surgical Procedures

Many patients are unaware that ENT is actually a surgical sub-specialty. While many head and neck diseases can be treated medically, some require minimally invasive surgical procedures performed by Dr. Wiggenhorn right in our office. Other, more complex surgical cases, are performed by Dr. Wiggenhorn in a surgical facility. Dr. Wiggenhorn is board certified to perform all aspects of surgical ENT on both pediatric and adult patients. Listed below are some of the most common surgeries he performs:

  • Sinus surgery
  • Nasal reconstruction
  • Thyroid/Parathyroid Surgery
  • Head & Neck Cancer
  • Tonsillectomy/Adenoidectomy
  • Ear Surgery

Dr. Kristalovich services both pediatric and adult patients.

Hearing aids

Whether hearing aids are new to you or familiar companions, there's great news. Ever-advancing technology has created not just new comfort and cleaner sound, but virtual invisibility — and lower cost! These include:

  • Open ear technology — Restores hearing without the feeling of a device in the ear canal. It is tremendously more comfortable and typically provides superior sound.
  • Wireless communication — New hearing aids communicate in much the same way that your two ears and brain work together. You get vastly improved sound while the tiny components result in ultimate comfort.
  • Bluetooth® — Now you can even use your cell phone and television together with certain hearing aids. New technology combines them with Bluetooth, so you can answer the phone and watch television through both ears.
  • Designer styles — Hearing aids have even become fashion statements — some of them offer a choice of designer shades to match your hair color, skin color and style.

Sleep Apnea

There are many types of sleep disorders that make it difficult to get a sufficient amount of rest each day. Sleep apnea, which is defined as stoppages of breathing from 10 seconds up to a minute, is among the most common.

  • Obstructive Sleep Apnea is caused by an airway obstruction due to septal deviation, enlarged tonsils or tongue, or enlarged neck circumference. Snoring is often present with obstructive apnea.
  • Central Apnea results in stopped breathing due to the brain’s failure to send the lungs a message to breathe. This is less common than obstructive apnea and is generally caused by neurological abnormalities.

Treatment of Sleep Apnea

A thorough examination and sleep history will help define the appropriate treatment for sleep apnea. Many people fail to get help for apnea fearing they would be required to have an overnight sleep test and then be required to wear a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) mask to bed. This device continues to make a huge difference in the lives of those with severe apnea and masks are now more comfortable and machines are quieter. The adverse effects of not treating sleep apnea include but are not limited to pulmonary hypertension, stroke, heart attacks, or even sudden death.

  • Oral Mandibular Advancement Appliances are an excellent alternative for those with mild sleep apnea. A full evaluation by Dr. Wiggenhorn will determine if you are a candidate for a mandibular advancement appliance. These are worn during sleep and either a) move the lower jaw slightly forward or b) prevent the tongue from blocking the airway. These are customized to each patient and can be fitted in our office. Oral appliances are reported by patients as being comfortable to use and not as cumbersome nor claustrophobic as a CPAP machine.

“I saw Dr. Wiggenhorn for hearing loss due to blockage of my ear canals. After discussing options we decided to go with surgery to open them up. After 2 visits with Dr. Wiggenhorn, I was confident in choosing him to be my surgeon. Now, one day post surgery I am even happier that I worked with him. The entire experience was a pleasure, he had a long day and was still extremely upbeat and cheerful when checking in with me in pre op. I highly recommend him and his entire team, office and hospital!”
